Builders Club is a student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership. Builders Club is supported by the Moline Kiwanis Club. Some of the activities our group has completed in the past are: made fleece blankets for local organizations, ran an essentials donation drive for a local men's shelter, filled Easter eggs for the city of Moline, bought and built a bike with Mississippi Bend Trykes for a child with special needs, and painted kindness rocks. 

Crimestoppers: Detective Raymond and Mr. McKenzie

Crime Stoppers is a program that involves students, staff, the community and the police in fighting crime at school. It offers confidentiality and cash rewards for information regarding crime committed at school and in the community. JDMS Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization and is run under the umbrella of Crime Stoppers of the Quad Cities.

This choir is open to all 7th and 8th grade choir students.  It is a non auditioned choir that rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:20 am-7:50 am.  Spartan Choir performs at the 7th and 8th Grade Choir concerts as well as during the school day performances at the JDMS feeding schools in December.  Most years Spartan Choir performs their Winter music at an area community center during the school day.  Students not in choir at JDMS but would like to be in the Spartan Morning Choir should see Mrs. Sheese to discuss options.

The JDMS Journal is a group of students that curate interviews, visit extracurricular activities and keep up with all the current trends to write about in our online edition of the newspaper. The JDMS Journal is written by the students and edited by the teaching staff overseeing it. Each student in the JDMS Journal will have their respected subject to write about, catering to their interests. The JDMS Journal is a great way to practice journalist interviewing and writing skills for the students at JDMS! The JDMS Journal is also a clear and concise way to view the news at JDMS!

The student council is an organization of leaders in our building! The goal is to have everyone participating and helping with organizing events for fundraising, help during sporting events, pass out candy grams, putting up posters, ABC countdown ideas, organizing teacher appreciation week, help plan dances, etc,. We focus on a goal for the funds that we raise and our goal this year is to improve our outdoor space at JDMS!

WEB, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs” is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from our 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success.

The Spartan Image yearbook is a group of creative students at JDMS who work together in a collaborative team environment to publish the yearbook to commemorate the school year.  Students meet weekly and develop interviewing, writing, photography and graphic design skills.  They set goals and work together to achieve those goals and produce a yearbook for all students to treasure for years to come.
