Our school was built in 1930 and named after John Deere, the inventor of the polished steel plow and founder of John Deere & Company. John Deere & Company world headquarters continues to call Moline, Illinois its home and is one of the largest employers in our community.
Approximately 750 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students attend John Deere Middle School. Our colors are royal blue and gold. Our mascot is the Spartan. At John Deere, we follow the middle school concept, and each grade level is divided into two teams – Blue or Gold.
Each team is composed of a core team of teachers in English Language Arts, Math, PE, Science, and Social Studies. Outside of the core, students have the opportunity to take Computers, Music, Health and Wellness, Art, Career and Consumer Explorations, and Industrial Technology. Students may also participate in Enrichment/Intervention class. Some students are assigned to Band, Choir, or Orchestra during E/I. Others are assigned to Intervention Study Hall to strengthen their skills in English Language Arts or Math.
